But it will still be <strong>good for his\/her lungs and brain<\/strong> to stay inside for a few more weeks. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may notice some <strong>body signals<\/strong> this week. Light spotting and increased vaginal discharge <strong>are normal<\/strong> , but <strong>if you lose your mucus plug<\/strong> or notice heavy bleeding, it\u2019s a good idea to call your doctor right away. <strong>It\u2019s time to review your labor signs!<\/strong> \ud83c\udf7c \u2728  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your baby is probably <strong>around 6 kilos<\/strong> , but he&#8217;s not fully &#8220;cooked&#8221; yet! \ud83c\udf6a In the last few weeks, your baby is continuing to store fat and strengthen his immune system. <strong>During this time, you may feel incredibly energetic and<\/strong> want to organize your house, empty drawers, and clean everywhere. This is called the &#8220;nesting instinct.&#8221; \ud83c\udfe0 \ud83d\udc96 Your body is preparing for the baby&#8217;s arrival!   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Baby&#8217;s Development in the 37th Week <\/strong>  \ud83d\udc76<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your baby is currently practicing basic skills like <strong>breathing, sucking, and blinking<\/strong> . <strong>And yes, he&#8217;s also making his first poop<\/strong> (meconium)! \ud83e\udd2d Who can&#8217;t wait to change their first diaper? \ud83d\ude4b\u200d\u2640\ufe0f  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s take a look at the tiny feet! \ud83e\uddb6   <strong>Her nails started growing at 17 weeks, became visible at 20 weeks, but are now fully developed.  <\/strong>  Those tiny nails are now covering your toes, but don&#8217;t worry, you don&#8217;t need to cut them right after birth\u2014 <strong>newborn nails are very soft and grow slowly.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If your baby is in a head-down position<\/strong> , <strong>their head is likely already settled into their pelvis.<\/strong> This is the first step in their journey to birth! \ud83d\udc4f If this <strong>is your first pregnancy<\/strong> , your baby\u2019s head may settle into their pelvis before labor begins. However, <strong>if you\u2019ve had a baby before<\/strong> , this process can wait until after you\u2019re born. So, it all <strong>depends on your baby\u2019s timing!<\/strong> \u23f3 \u2728   <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Baby Size at 37 Weeks <\/strong>  \ud83e\udd6c<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your baby is now <strong>the size of a head of lettuce!<\/strong> \ud83e\udd57 He is about <strong>48.5 cm tall<\/strong> and weighs <strong>between 2.7-3.2 kg.<\/strong> He is also <strong>gaining about 14 grams every day.<\/strong> When you think about it, you can say that your baby is in weight storage mode right now! \ud83d\ude0d<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is My Baby Fully Developed at Week 37? <\/strong>  \ud83e\udd14 \ud83d\udc76<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the baby so close to birth, he&#8217;s pretty much fully developed! His <strong>circulatory and musculoskeletal systems are now fully developed.<\/strong> However, <strong>his lungs, brain, and nervous system are still getting the finishing touches.<\/strong> So staying in for a few more weeks could give him an extra boost. Sometimes it comes in one piece, sometimes in small pieces.   <strong>This is the mucus plug that protects the cervix.<\/strong>  As your cervix opens, this plug falls out and you begin to prepare for labor.
