Quadruple Test <\/strong>It is a non-blood screening test performed between 16 and 18 weeks of pregnancy. This test is performed to detect hereditary diseases such as Down syndrome, edwards syndrome and neural tube defects of the baby. This test is not a diagnostic test. Therefore, its results are not considered definitive. <\/p>\n\n

In the quadruple test, four different substances are screened in the blood sample taken from the expectant mother.<\/p>\n\n

When is the 4-Way Test Done?<\/h2>\n\n

The 4-way test is recommended to be performed between the 15th and 22nd weeks of pregnancy. However, for the most accurate result, pregnancy should be done between the 16th<\/a> and 18th weeks<\/a> . <\/p>\n\n

How accurate are the quadruple test results?<\/h2>\n\n

With the triple screening test<\/a> , beta-hCG, E3 hormone and APF hormone are examined and the sensitivity is considered to be 60%. How is the Quadruple Test Performed?<\/h2>\n\n

In the blood sample taken from the expectant mother, beta-hCG, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), free estriol (uE3) and Inhibin-A hormone values are examined. With ultrasound, the nuchal translucency and development of the baby are examined. <\/p>\n\n

The findings obtained in the blood test are compared with the average values of the gestational week of the expectant mother. If it is more than normal, the baby’s risk assessment is made according to the degree of deviation. <\/p>\n\n

    With the quadruple test, the levels of the four substances listed above are checked. The development of the baby is examined by ultrasound. Information such as blood test and ultrasound data, the age of the mother, whether she smokes, the date of the last menstrual period and the week of pregnancy are entered into a computer program and the risk calculation is made. The results of the quadruple test are usually available within a few days. <\/p>\n\n

    How are the Quadruple Test Results Evaluated?<\/h2>\n\n

    The purpose of double testing, triple testing and quadruple testing is the same. None of these tests guarantee that a baby will be born with chromosomal disease. If the baby’s risk ratio is higher than expected, a definitive result can be reached with methods such as CVS and amniocentesis. As the age of the expectant mother progresses, the rate of the baby being born with hereditary diseases increases.
