Week 23: Tiny Butterfly Kicks and Reactions to Sounds! 🦋
Hello, My Beautiful Mommy and Handsome Daddy! 💖
As I grow inside you, Mommy, you’re probably feeling my presence more than ever. My movements are getting stronger each day, and my little flutters might even make you smile. I’m having so much fun in here while preparing for the outside world. Even though I’m still inside, I’m incredibly busy! Every moment we share together is helping me get ready for the big world outside.
Thanks to my developing senses, I’m starting to learn a lot about the world around me. Your voice, your heartbeat, and even the sounds around you are becoming familiar to me. I’m doing so much inside and feeling stronger every day! Let’s explore what’s happening in my 23rd week together. 😊
My Size and Appearance

Right now, I’m about 21-22 cm long, roughly the size of a carrot! 🥕 My body is more proportional now, making ultrasounds even more exciting. My tiny hands, feet, and facial features are becoming more defined. My little nose, lips, and ears are now clearly visible—I’m starting to look like a tiny human! 😊
What Am I Doing in Here? 🤸♂️
This week, I’m super active inside! I stretch my arms and legs, sometimes even doing little somersaults. I roll around freely in my cozy home. I also love touching my face with my hands, wiggling my fingers, and even sucking my thumb from time to time! 🌟 My tiny hands and feet are constantly in motion, helping my muscles get stronger and making my movements more coordinated. My eyes are still closed, but I’m practicing my reflexes a lot, getting ready for the world outside.
I’m also continuing to inhale and exhale amniotic fluid, helping my lungs practice for breathing. Sometimes, I even yawn! Since I’m moving so much, I know you’re feeling these tiny flutters even more. Communicating with you through movement is so much fun! 😊
My Senses Are Developing, and I’m More Aware! 🎶
This week, my senses are rapidly improving. I can hear sounds from the outside world much better. Your voice, your heartbeat, and even conversations or music from outside are becoming familiar to me. When you sing to me or talk to me, I can hear you clearly! These sounds bring me comfort and are helping me prepare for life outside. Every time I hear your voice, our bond grows even stronger! 🎤
Not only can I hear better, but my taste buds are developing too. I can detect the flavors of the food you eat through the amniotic fluid. What you eat, I taste! I can now recognize the difference between sweet, sour, and salty flavors. These little taste tests are preparing me for all the delicious foods I’ll try once I’m born! 😊
My Skin is Getting Stronger and Maturing! 🧒
This week, my skin continues to develop and thicken. I’m becoming more durable and well-prepared for the outside world. A protective layer called vernix caseosa is covering my skin to keep it soft and shield it from the effects of the amniotic fluid. This creamy white layer ensures that my skin stays moisturized and protected. Everything inside is progressing perfectly!
My Lungs Are Getting Ready to Breathe! 🌬️
My lungs are developing quickly, bringing me closer to taking my first breath in the outside world. Right now, I’m practicing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. This training helps my lungs prepare for real breathing when I’m born. These exercises are an essential step in my journey to the outside world! 🎈
My Brain is Developing Rapidly! 🧠
This week, my brain is growing at an incredible rate. More connections are forming between my nerve cells, making my reflexes quicker and my movements more controlled. The development in my brain is also improving my senses, allowing me to experience the world inside more clearly. My brain and body are now communicating more effectively, meaning I’m getting closer to truly discovering the world outside! 😊
My Bones Are Hardening! 🦴
My bones are continuing to harden this week. My skeletal system is maturing rapidly, becoming strong enough to support my growing muscles. These stronger bones will help me move powerfully once I’m born. I’m getting tougher and more dynamic every day—like a tiny athlete! 💪
My Heart is Beating Strong and Steady! 💓
My heart continues to beat 140-150 times per minute, pumping blood throughout my body and ensuring my organs develop properly. My circulatory system is operating at full capacity, helping me grow strong and healthy. You can still hear my heartbeat during an ultrasound, and everything is running smoothly in here! 💪

Tips for Mommy and Daddy 🌟
My movements are getting stronger, and you’re probably feeling me more than ever. Since your belly is growing, you might start experiencing back, lower back, and leg pain. Try experimenting with comfortable sleeping positions, like lying on your side with pillow support. Taking short breaks during the day and elevating your feet can help relieve discomfort. 🌙
Keep focusing on nutrition! Eating foods rich in protein, iron, and calcium is crucial for both of us. Fish, eggs, leafy greens, and dairy products will support a healthy pregnancy and my development. Adding fiber-rich foods to your diet can also help with digestion. 🍳🥛🥦
Stay hydrated! Your body needs more fluids during this stage, so drinking plenty of water is essential for both of us. Hydration helps prevent swelling and keeps everything functioning smoothly. If plain water feels boring, try adding a little lemon or mint for a refreshing twist! 💧🍋
Daddy, your support means the world right now! If Mommy is experiencing back or lower back pain, a gentle massage can help her feel better. Remind her to take breaks and elevate her feet when needed. You can also plan some relaxing activities together to keep her spirits up. Small surprises and loving gestures will make this journey even more special. Remember, when Mommy feels comfortable and happy, I do too! 💕😊
What’s Coming Next Week? 🎉
Next week, I’ll have even more energy! My movements will become more frequent and noticeable—you might even feel a surprise kick early in the morning, Mommy! My senses are continuing to develop, and I’ll start responding more to external sounds. Who knows? Maybe I’ll react when I hear Daddy’s voice! The excitement and fun aren’t slowing down anytime soon—next week will bring even more surprises! 🎊👶
