Week 31: Tiny Facial Expressions and Big Preparations! 😊🌟
Hello, Mommy and Daddy! 💖
We’ve officially entered Week 31, and by now, you can feel my every little movement much more clearly! 🎉 As I grow, my space is getting tighter, but that doesn’t stop me from stretching, wiggling, and preparing for my grand arrival!
I love hearing your voice, and every day, our bond gets stronger. There’s not much time left before we finally meet, but until then, I’m learning, growing, and getting ready to see your beautiful faces! Let’s check out what’s happening this week! 😊
My Size and Appearance

Right now, I’m about 41-42 cm long, which means I’m as big as a coconut! 🥥
My face is fully formed, and if you see me on an ultrasound, you’ll notice that I look more like a newborn every day! My tiny nose, lips, and chubby cheeks are taking shape, and my body is filling out. I’m almost ready to snuggle in your arms! 👶💖
Tiny Facial Expressions: Smiles, Frowns, and More! 😊😠
Guess what? I can make facial expressions now! This week, I’m learning how to smile, frown, raise my eyebrows, and even pout.
🎭 My little face is becoming super expressive! When I’m comfortable, I might flash a tiny smile, and when I feel a little squished, I might make a funny frown. These tiny expressions are good practice for when I start communicating with you after birth! 😍
My Movements: Big Stretches and Mini Kicks! 🕺
I may not have as much space as before, but that doesn’t stop me from wiggling and stretching! My arms and legs are getting stronger, and you’ve probably felt my little kicks, punches, and stretches more than ever.
I love to move, but because my space is getting tighter, you might feel more rolling movements instead of big kicks. But don’t worry—I’m still very active! You might even see my tiny foot or elbow pushing against your belly! 😆
My Sleep Routine: Sweet Dreams and Awake Moments! 🌙
I’m getting into a real sleep schedule now! I have regular sleep and wake cycles, and you might notice that I have times of the day when I’m super active and other times when I’m resting.
Scientists believe that babies start dreaming in the womb around this time! What am I dreaming about? Probably you, my cozy world inside your belly, and the exciting day when we finally meet! 😴✨
My Senses: Responding to Sounds and Lights! 🎧🌟
✔️ I hear your voice more clearly than ever! 💕
✔️ I react to bright lights shining through your belly.
✔️ I respond to gentle touches and belly rubs.
When you talk to me or play music, I listen carefully and sometimes even move in response! If you shine a bright light near your belly, I might turn my head away or blink!
I love hearing your voice, Mommy! It’s the most soothing sound in the world. And Daddy, I recognize your voice, too! Keep talking to me—I already know you! 😍
My Lungs: Final Preparations for Breathing! 🌬️
I’m practicing my breathing every day! I move amniotic fluid in and out of my lungs, strengthening the muscles I’ll use to take my first breath after birth.
If I were born now, I would need a little help breathing, but my lungs are almost fully developed and getting stronger every day!
My Skin: Softer and Smoother! 🛡️
I’m still covered in vernix caseosa, the white protective cream that keeps my skin moisturized inside the amniotic fluid. My lanugo (fine body hair) is starting to fall off now that I can better regulate my body temperature.
By the time I’m born, my skin will be soft, smooth, and perfect for cuddles! 🥰
This Week’s Highlights! 🌟
✔️ My movements are stronger! You can feel me rolling, stretching, and pushing.
✔️ I can make facial expressions! I smile, frown, and even scrunch my face!
✔️ I react to light and sound! Your voice makes me happy, and I recognize familiar sounds.
✔️ I might be dreaming! My sleep cycles are developing, and I may be dreaming about you!
✔️ My lungs are almost ready! I’m practicing breathing for my big arrival.

Tips for Mommy and Daddy! 🌟
Mommy, We’re in Week 31! 🎉
By now, you might be feeling:
✔️ More tired than usual 😴
✔️ Backaches and pressure on your belly 😓
✔️ Shortness of breath as your growing belly pushes on your lungs
Here’s how you can stay comfortable this week:
💖 Take breaks and rest often—your body is working hard!
💖 Drink lots of water to help with swelling.
💖 Use extra pillows to support your belly when sleeping.
💖 Try gentle stretching and light exercise to stay flexible.
💖 Eat small, nutritious meals to keep your energy up!
Also, baby brain is real! 😆 If you’re feeling forgetful, don’t worry—it’s normal! Write things down and ask Daddy for help. You’re doing an amazing job!
Daddy, Mommy Needs Extra Love This Week! 🥰
✔️ Help her relax! Give her a foot rub or run her a warm bath.
✔️ Encourage her to rest! She needs more breaks now.
✔️ Start finalizing baby prep together! Pack the hospital bag, set up the nursery, and get ready! 🍼
✔️ Talk and sing to me! I know your voice, and it makes me so happy! 💙
Next Week: Bigger, Stronger, and Getting Ready to Meet You! 🎉
Next week, I’ll be even bigger and stronger! My kicks and movements might change as I run out of space, but I’ll still wiggle and stretch to remind you I’m here.
We’re getting so close to the big day! I can’t wait to see you, cuddle with you, and hear your voices in the real world.
I love you, Mommy and Daddy! See you soon! 💕👶
